What Serval announced

Serval said on 29 October 2026 that it has raised a $150 million Series C led by Sequoia at a $3 billion valuation. According to the company's press release, distributed by Business Wire, the round brings total funding to $277 million and is Serval's third raise in about twelve months. Existing investors Elad Gil, Evantic, First Round, General Catalyst and Redpoint took part, and Conviction and Headline joined as new investors. The company did not say whether the valuation is pre-money or post-money.

The valuation is three times the $1 billion Serval reached in December 2025, when it raised a $75 million Series B, also led by Sequoia. Its Series A, led by Redpoint, closed in October 2025.

Serval sells an AI platform for IT and enterprise service management. In the company's own description, staff in IT, HR, legal and finance describe a need in plain language and the platform turns it into secure, governed automations, from simple service requests to multi-step processes, running across the systems a company already uses.

Growth claims and where the money goes

Serval says it has doubled annual recurring revenue every quarter since the Series B and that most customers go live within 30 days. It has not published an ARR figure, so the growth rate cannot be checked against a base. Co-founder and chief executive Jake Stauch wrote that the team has grown tenfold in the past year and named Fox Corporation, WPP, Live Nation, Lucid Motors and Ramp as customers. The company also says it onboarded two Fortune 20 customers in recent months to deploy automations across their organisations, without naming them, and Stauch said one automotive manufacturer replaced ServiceNow with Serval in 45 days.

The money is going mainly into people. Serval plans to hire more than 500 employees over the next 12 months. That includes more than 100 automation engineers for ProServal, a new professional services arm that will place engineers inside large customers to design and build automations with them. For a software startup, a services unit of that size is a notable choice: it suggests the hardest part of selling AI automation to big enterprises is still the implementation work, not the model.

Serval has positioned itself openly against ServiceNow, the incumbent in IT service management, and coverage of the round in outlets including Axios and The Next Web framed it the same way. ServiceNow has been adding its own AI agents to the same workflows; on 22 October it published customer results from Thrive with 73% first-contact resolution.

Why it matters and what to watch

The round is part of a wider pattern in which investors pay high multiples for companies that sell AI agents into existing enterprise software categories rather than building general models. In the same week, Thrive Holdings agreed to buy ADT to apply AI to a traditional services business, and Cohere and FuriosaAI announced large rounds. A threefold valuation increase in ten months, from $1 billion to $3 billion, shows how quickly that market is pricing in growth.

For IT and operations leaders, the practical question is whether an AI-native newcomer can replace an established ticketing and workflow system without a long migration. Serval's claim of customers going live within 30 days and a 45-day ServiceNow replacement speaks to that question, but both are company statements without independent detail on scope or cost.

Open points include Serval's actual revenue, whether the named Fortune 20 customers will be disclosed, how ProServal will be priced, and how ServiceNow responds on price and product. The round is recorded in our AI funding tracker.
