What Apple released
Apple said on 26 October 2026 that Siri AI is now available in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, in a Newsroom post published with the 27.2 software updates. Until now the rebuilt assistant worked in English only. Apple says traditional Chinese, Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese will follow by the end of the year.
Siri AI is Apple's reworked Siri, built on Apple Intelligence. Apple says it draws on personal context across messages, email and photos, takes actions inside apps, understands what is on screen and answers general questions with world knowledge. Apple's examples include drafting an email from scratch and editing and sharing a set of photos. It remains a beta in iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and visionOS 27.2 and needs an Apple Intelligence-enabled device set to a supported language.
Usage limits and a future fee
The post's footnotes carry the more consequential news. Apple says features that rely on server-side models are subject to daily usage limits, naming Siri AI, intelligent photo editing tools, Image Playground and AFM 3 Cloud models in Shortcuts. Limits can vary by feature, request complexity, system demand and other factors. Apple adds that expanded access to these features will be available for a fee in the future, without a price or date.
Apple's Apple Intelligence usage terms say that when a user hits a limit, the feature may stop working or be reduced until the limit resets. The terms also allow Apple to throttle or suspend excessive, automated or abusive use, and to change which features have limits at any time.
Still no Siri AI in the EU
Siri AI is not available in the European Union on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS. Apple says it is working constructively with the EU to find a path forward. That leaves Spanish, French and Portuguese speakers in Spain, France and Portugal without the feature on their phones, even though their languages are now supported. The post does not say whether the restriction applies to macOS. Apple Intelligence itself works in 16 device languages, so German, Italian, Dutch, Danish and Swedish users get other Apple Intelligence features but not yet Siri AI.
What it means and what to watch
A paid tier would put Apple closer to the subscription model used by ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot, while the rest of Apple Intelligence stays free with the device. The same week Apple announced assistants in its Keynote, Pages and Numbers apps. Watch for the size of the daily limits, the price of expanded access and any change in the EU position.
