What UiPath and PLDT reported
UiPath announced on 5 October 2026 that PLDT, the Philippine telecommunications company, received a Silver Award at the 2026 UiPath AI Breakthrough Awards. The award recognizes customers that deploy agentic AI beyond traditional automation. PLDT built a set of in-house AI agents with UiPath Agent Builder, Integration Service and Robots, and uses them in enterprise sales, risk management and lead generation.
The first agent, Ellie, short for Enablement and Intelligence Engine, pulls enterprise knowledge and live CRM data, generates customer-ready proposals and presentations, and flags churn risks with retention or upsell recommendations. PLDT estimates that Ellie reclaims 18,000 to 25,000 hours a year. The release says sales teams spend 40% to 60% less time on standard proposal and presentation materials, proposal error rates fell by 40% to 50%, and upsell rates rose by 20% to 50%.
The knowledge and risk agents
KAI, for Knowledge, Automation, Intelligence, handles grounded knowledge retrieval for proposals and customer support. According to the release, research that took up to five days now returns answers in one to three seconds, which UiPath describes as a 99% faster response rate. KAI accounts for about 12 FTE-equivalent annual capacity and an estimated 25,000 to 30,000 hours of manual effort a year.
ERICA, the Enterprise Risk Intelligence Companion Agent, writes structured risk statements and scores them against compliance standards. The release says it reduced manual effort by 97% to 99% and shortened risk assessments from two to 10 days to between five minutes and one day. Gilbert Gaw, first vice president and head of IT and the transformation office at PLDT and Smart, is quoted on the award. Karl Crowther, UiPath area vice president for the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, is quoted praising the deployment.
Why it matters
Most enterprise agent announcements describe products. This one gives per-agent numbers from a named customer, which makes it more useful as a benchmark for sales and risk automation in large companies. The limits are clear, though. The figures are estimates and ranges, they appear in a vendor award release, and no baseline, measurement period or project cost is given. Added together, Ellie and KAI suggest 43,000 to 55,000 hours a year, but the release itself only says tens of thousands of hours. More automation results with numbers are collected under AI Automation.
What to watch next
PLDT says it wants to expand agentic AI further, but the release does not name new use cases or dates. Independent confirmation, for example in PLDT's own disclosures, would make the hours and upsell figures easier to rely on.
