Tech AI LatestNVIDIA expanded its Cosmos world model platform on 21 October 2026 with Cosmos Data Factory, five cloud blueprints for generating and curating training data, and a Cosmos Framework for fine-tuning and deploying robot and driving models such as GR00T, Alpamayo and Pi0.5. Updated Cosmos 3 NIM microservices give up to 2x faster inference, NVIDIA says. Porsche, ANYbotics, MicroAGI and ADNOC are named as users. Licence terms are not stated.
Key facts
- Announced: 21 October 2026 (NVIDIA blog)
- Cosmos Data Factory: five blueprints, available on GitHub, Microsoft Azure, Nebius and CoreWeave
- Cosmos Framework: fine-tuning, reinforcement learning, distillation and quantization for GR00T, Alpamayo, Qwen, Pi0.5 and other models
- Cosmos 3 NIM: up to 2x faster inference in validated configurations, NVIDIA says
- Porsche expects up to 90% fewer repeated physical test drives with a shared data flywheel
- Licences: not stated in the announcement
What NVIDIA announced
NVIDIA added training, evaluation and deployment tools to its Cosmos world model platform on 21 October 2026, during its GTC Berlin event. Cosmos models generate and analyse video of the physical world and are used to create training data for robots and autonomous vehicles. NVIDIA says Cosmos ranks in the top five on six open model leaderboards.
Cosmos Data Factory brings together tools for labelling, curating, augmenting and evaluating data. Its five cloud-native blueprints cover autonomous vehicle dataset generation, image attribute augmentation, event video generation, defect image generation and video data augmentation. They are available on GitHub, Microsoft Azure, Nebius and CoreWeave. Cosmos Curator, a GPU-accelerated video curation tool, now handles multimodal sensor inputs.
Training and deployment tools
The Cosmos Framework packages training, optimisation and deployment recipes as agent skills. It supports fine-tuning, reinforcement learning, distillation, quantization and inference for Cosmos 3 and other open models, including NVIDIA GR00T, Alpamayo, Qwen and Physical Intelligence's Pi0.5. New Cosmos 3 Nano variants come with code to train and evaluate driving and two-armed robot policies in interactive simulation.
Updated Cosmos 3 NIM microservices deliver up to 2x faster inference with no quality loss in validated configurations, NVIDIA says. A Metropolis blueprint built on them lets teams monitor 40% more video streams on the same GPU.
Who is using it
Porsche, working with Volkswagen Group, Voxel51 and Microsoft Azure, is building a shared data flywheel for autonomous driving and expects it to cut repeated physical test drives by up to 90% and development cycle times by up to 85%. ANYbotics generated more than 1,500 synthetic video clips to train inspection robots to spot liquid spills. MicroAGI post-trained Cosmos 3 on videos of people handling objects and distilled a 32-billion-parameter reasoner into an 8-billion-parameter Nano model with no loss in accuracy. Fogsphere's safety platform built with Cosmos runs across 65 ADNOC sites.
These figures come from NVIDIA's post and the companies it quotes. The same day NVIDIA released a reference humanoid and Isaac Lab 3.0, and its Isaac workflows use Cosmos for synthetic data.
What to watch next
Licence terms for the new models and tools are not stated in the announcement, and NVIDIA gives no prices for the NIM microservices. Independent benchmarks of the 2x inference claim would help. It is also not stated whether the Data Factory blueprints cost extra on Azure, Nebius and CoreWeave, or how large the synthetic datasets they produce can be. Developers can watch the GitHub repositories for the recipes NVIDIA describes as agent skills. More world model and physical AI stories are under Robotics & Physical AI.
