Apple released a Siri AI Developer Preview on 3 November 2026 with the iOS, iPadOS, macOS and visionOS 27.3 betas. Any developer can now expose app content and actions to Siri AI through App Intents, and new skills let Siri chain several actions for one request. Apple says the features ship to customers in a few months, with App Store submissions opening in the spring. Terms and usage policies are still to come.

What Apple announced

Apple said on 3 November 2026 that Siri AI is now open to all developers. Starting with the iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS 27.3 and visionOS 27.3 betas, a Developer Preview lets any app bring its content and actions into Siri AI, the rebuilt assistant that Apple has been rolling out in beta on Apple Intelligence devices. Apple notes that thousands of developers have already built Siri integrations for tasks such as directions, to-do lists, messages and audiobooks; the preview extends that to the new assistant's capabilities for any app.

Developers connect their apps through App Intents, the framework Apple already uses for Shortcuts and Spotlight. Apple says this gives apps access to Siri AI's personal context understanding, onscreen awareness and natural language handling, so a user can ask in their own words and Siri AI runs the custom action, with checking a delivery, booking a reservation and placing an order given as examples. For more complex requests, Apple is introducing skills, which let a developer teach Siri AI how to combine several actions into a single experience. Siri AI can also now surface any entity in the Spotlight semantic index, not only those that fit an existing schema.

Apple has started adding these capabilities to its own apps, including Calendar, Files, Finder, Journal, Mail, Maps, Messages, Music, Notes, Photos, Preview, Reminders, Safari, Shortcuts and Weather. Its examples include finding a coffee shop a user visited last week or archiving files that have not been opened in over a year. Apple engineers are holding Apple Intelligence Group Labs sessions for developers on 4 and 5 November.

Timeline, limits and what is still missing

Apple describes the release as a sneak peek. The company says the features will first ship to customers in a few months and that App Store submissions for Siri AI integrations will open in the spring, which gives developers time to build and test before launch. It has not given calendar dates for either step, and it says it will follow up with terms and usage policies for experiences enabled through Siri AI. Apple has not said what those terms will cover; one open question for developers is how Siri AI chooses between several apps that can handle the same request.

The availability notes from the earlier 27.2 language expansion still apply. Siri AI runs in beta, requires an Apple Intelligence device set to a supported language, and works in English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, with traditional Chinese, Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese to follow. It is unavailable in the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS, where Apple says it is working with the EU on a path forward, and it is not offered to users under 13. Server-based features, Siri AI among them, are subject to daily usage limits, and Apple says expanded access will cost a fee in the future.

Why it matters for app makers

Opening the assistant to every app moves Siri AI closer to the agent model that OpenAI, Google and Microsoft are pursuing, where the assistant completes tasks inside third-party services instead of only answering questions. Apple's version relies on actions that developers declare explicitly through App Intents, rather than on an agent operating the app's interface. That keeps developers in control of what Siri AI can do, but it also means apps without App Intents support will stay invisible to the assistant.

For developers, the practical step now is to audit which actions their apps already expose through App Intents and Shortcuts, since those form the base for Siri AI integration. Businesses that rely on discovery inside the App Store will want to watch the promised usage policies closely. The same 27.3 cycle is also when Apple plans to bring the original Apple Intelligence features to mainland China with Alibaba's Qwen model, as covered in our iOS 27.3 China story, although Siri AI itself is not part of that release.
